Adventures on the High Seas

With two small children, a visit to the theatre can sometimes be a bit daunting, especially with a son like mine who does not like to sit still for a long time!  I am on the mailing list for the Customs House in South Shields, so when I got their summer brochure in the post I instantly spotted Silly Simon the Sailor.  This is a show written and performed by the wonderful team that bring you Santa's Naughty Elf every year so I knew it would be aimed and perfectly pitched at children my two's age.  Tickets are a really reasonable £6 for the adults and £8 for the children (including a free Sailors hat).

It is being performed out in the Harton Quay Amphitheatre, a new addition to the Customs House and is just outside the main building.  Luckily they do have a contingency for bad weather but today, thankfully, the weather was on our side (if a little windy).  The play is written by Wayne Miller, who plays Silly Simon and it is full of laughs for both adults and children.  There is lots of audience participation so make sure you join in!  We had a blast and are looking forward to Santa's Naughty Elf again this Christmas.
